In addition to my current role as Digital Media Producer, I serve as adjunct faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences, where I teach JMC 230: Integrated Marketing Communications, an online course that introduces students to advertising strategy, audience analysis, industry structure, and consumer behavior, as well as JMC 304: Interactive Media Design, an in-person, project-based course that builds motion design skills and strengthens student workflows and proficiency in Adobe After Effects. I also serve as the Department of Communication's faculty advisor for the Ad/PR Club, supporting student-led professional development and opportunities to connect classroom learning with industry practice, and have co-taught LOPR 101: The Power of Social Media in the College of Business and Technology, a first-year seminar blending digital branding, influencer strategy, and audience targeting with mentorship and foundational university skills to support student success.Across all courses, my teaching emphasizes real-world application and media literacy in traditional and digital formats.

As Digital Media Producer at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, I lead the creation of strategic digital content that supports university marketing, communications, and recruitment efforts. From video production and livestreaming to managing social media strategy and digital ad campaigns, I collaborate across departments to bring the UNK brand to life. I oversee our Social Media Coordinator and the Herd Life Creative student team, manage major digital projects including broadcast commercials, documentary-style storytelling, and campus-wide signage, and provide media assets to internal and external stakeholders. Highlights include producing a commercial aired in local markets during the 2024 Super Bowl, leading viral projects like Chancellor Karaoke, and earning the University of Nebraska’s KUDOS Award for innovative video storytelling. My work combines creative direction with hands-on production, whether on the ground in the edit bay or in the air capturing aerial footage using my FAA drone certification, to deliver meaningful media experiences.

As a member of the newly formed New Media department at the Kearney Hub, part of the Omaha World-Herald family of newspapers, I helped pioneer the paper’s digital transition. What began as a videographer role quickly evolved into a broad position encompassing digital content creation and platform management. I produced videos for news and sporting events, created original web series and multimedia features, and maintained the website with daily and breaking news updates. I also designed digital advertising assets such as pre-roll and post-roll videos and web banner ads to support revenue growth. To further increase engagement, I developed podcasts and blogs for reporters and authored the paper’s first formal social media guidelines as Facebook and Twitter became integral to modern news distribution. My work earned multiple state and national awards, including top honors for video production, online journalism, and web innovation.

From 2012 to 2024, I worked part-time on the video crew at the Viaero Center. I began as part of the in-house "Viaero Vision" team and, following a transition to outsourced operations, continued under employment with Sure Sound & Lighting. This work ran alongside my full-time positions at the Kearney Hub and UNK.I started as a camera and replay operator on the video crew supporting live sporting and concert events. Over time, I advanced into roles with greater responsibility, becoming Technical Director and eventually Broadcast Director. In this role, I directed live, multi-camera productions for events including home games of the Tri-City Storm, a USHL hockey team. For a number of years, I was also responsible for editing the team’s intro and hype videos to elevate the game-day atmosphere. This experience sharpened my skills in live production workflows, real-time troubleshooting, team collaboration, and communication.

From early 2008 to 2009, I worked at Mercury Labs (formerly Mercury Multimedia) first as a Video Production Intern and later as an Assistant Editor. As an intern, I supported post-production workflows by reviewing and digitizing footage, organizing media files, and assisting with editing and motion graphics. I created visual elements such as lower thirds, authored and duplicated DVDs, and prepared final deliverables for broadcast by printing to BETA tape and managing FTP transfers. After being hired full-time, I contributed to a wide range of video projects for both commercial and broadcast audiences. My editing work included corporate marketing videos, short documentaries, b-roll packages, and demo reels. I also edited episodes for syndicated programs such as Cinemattractions, a DVD review show, and Virtually Open House, a local property tour series. This experience deepened my technical proficiency in Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, and strengthened my ability to craft cohesive narratives under pressure while working as part of a fast-paced, collaborative production environment.

As an intern at ITC in St. Louis, I supported post-production workflows through detailed media management and hands-on editing. I digitized, captured, and logged footage to prepare projects for senior editors, edited rough cuts of video and audio content, and ensured narrative clarity and technical quality throughout. My responsibilities also included dubbing between BETA and DVD formats and authoring DVDs for client delivery and archival use. This experience sharpened my attention to detail, introduced me to professional post-production standards, and built a strong foundation in tools like Final Cut Pro and Compressor.
